Wii-hab Program

At Evans Health Care, we take our patients’ rehabilitation seriously. And, incorporating entertainment into our therapy can help our patients achieve their rehab goals faster and have fun while doing it! As part of our rehabilitation program, we use the Wii (pronounced “we”), an interactive video game system developed by Nintendo. However, this is far from your ordinary video game system.

A distinguishing feature of the Wii is its wireless controller, which allows the player to perform actual movements, such as a tennis serve or golf swing, for instance.

That kind of interactivity and specific motion is ideally suited for:

• Stroke patients • Orthopedic patients • Pulmonary patients • Traumatic brain injury patients • Multiple Sclerosis • Spinal cord injury • Musculoskeletal disorders

“The Wii interactive system maximizes the patient's functional, cognitive and behavioral recovery by addressing key aspects such as coordination, cognitive retraining, higher activities of daily living skills

including fine motor coordination.”
